Thanks for all the compliments (I'm blushing), and for the hoodie advice. I don't know when I'll get around to altering my hoodie, but I did surf around and come across t_shirt_surgery (and so did Miss Twiss and Erica, such excellent researchers!), where this is pretty much what I was looking for. (Not so much detailed instructions as just seeing someone else successfully turn too-big into just-right.)

No knitting to report, for as hard as I've tried, I just can't seem to write a thesis and knit at the same time. So I'll leave you with just a little more CBC love: one of my prized possessions, which I found five or six years ago at a thrift store (I think I paid 25 cents).
