It's the Must-Have-taken-a-year-to-finish Cardigan!

wearing my heart on the wall

Here I am, rocking the self-timer on my camera to show you my new sweater. Did you even remember that I was making this? I knit the pieces last winter in Taipei but never got around to finishing it. I have since come to enjoy blocking and have gotten over my fear of seaming, so it was time. High time. Last night I sat down with the blocked pieces and all the supplies and got to seaming and knitting the button band. It took a lot longer than I'd figured it would (I may or may not have been up till four), but I finished all the knitting and sewing last night. This morning I added the buttons -- nice wooden buttons that actually came with the Peace Fleece Everyday Cardigan kit. Et voila!

I'm head over heels in love with this sweater. I'm a big cardigan fan, and I love how this one fits: not tight, not too loose, with longish arms. Here are the specs:

Pattern: Must Have Cardigan, from Patons Street Smart booklet
Size: large
Yarn: Patons Classic Wool Merino (colour: Natural Mix)
Needles: various lengths of 5.0mm circulars
I know I shouldn't be so surprised, since I used the recommended yarn, but my sweater looks exactly like the one in the pattern book! Whee! I'm so pleased with this sweater -- and with the fact that I just went outside without a coat and survived -- that I feel like dancing.

it's beautiful, and i just got my street smart book yesterday (though, i don't know when i'll cast on because i also just started another patons sweater pattern).
how has the classic merino held up? do you think it's a good value yarn and would you use it again?
thank you,
d
