Yay! and then Boo!

1. Handing in my comps (Yay!)
Three copies of my synthesis paper meant printing a hundred single-sided pages. I kind of sucked at Earth Day.

2. Celebrating! (Yay!)
To the grad pub up the hill for a pint with friends; I was there first, so I worked on a Narragansett Bay sock while I waited.

3. Wiping out on the pavement (Boo!)
You know I was planning to knit today. First I went out and did some grocery shopping and some thrifting (more about that another time); when I got home I made several trips from the car to the house with bags (reusable bags, of course) and somehow I managed to trip going up two (concrete) steps and fall down.

Mah handz! So no knitting today -- I scraped the palm of my left hand and the back of my right, and they're oozy, and I'm not getting scrapey ooze anywhere near my sweet, sweet laceweight. Damn it!!

ouch. looks like you really bit it. but congrats on the thesis though. doesn't it feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders?

Congratulations!! You did it! I'm sure you do feel lighter. Sorry about the wipe-out. :(

Hooray for getting the thesis bear off your back! Now, if you've got any mojo left please send me a bit because I've got to finish mine tonight and my mind won't stop wandering (and reading blogs, boo).

If, the gods forbid, I ever decide to get another degree, I'll pick a Canadian school next time. Why? Because there are NO GRAD PUBS here. I was just saying to Peter last night how much I miss the grad club at Western. Even though it's all different and rotten now, and, um, I was an undergrad when I used to sneak in to hang out there. They had the finest patio around.

Hooorah for getting in all your school work! Must feel great! Now you don't have to hibernate anymore! :)

Ouchie! Hope you feel fast so you can knit again! Sean got a booboo today too (scratched from tripping). :(

Ok, now I'm craving a beer. Damn it. 74 days to go (hopefully sooner) and I can have a pint too!

sucks to falling. i hope you feel better soon. looks like a pretty good spill, but scrapes heal fast sometimes.

this is an extremely random observation, but it seems important to me somehow to mention that i like the snaps on your shirt. those round snaps are my favorite.

It's so cruel that you made it the whole winter without wiping out and now the glorious Spring has brought such a beating!

Oh no! Sorry you ate shit on the steps, dude. But hey, congrats on completing your comps!

Perhaps you lost your balance because you weren't used to feeling so light and unburdened? Congrats!

The question we're all dying to know is, "How many pints did you have before you fell on the steps?" And, are you wearing shorts sleeves and pants? Must be spring in Montreal!

Ow, that sucks! (The skinned knee, not everything else.) I've had to postpone knitting (acually, it was crocheting come to think of it) because I pinched my finger in one of those weird wine corks.

Oh no! I ate it this weekend going up the stairs too. I was carrying too many bottles and tried to switch hands to get the keys out of my pocket. Fortunately I escaped only missing a chunk of skin off my knee.

Congrats! And Ouch! Hope your wounds heal quickly so you can get back to that knitting.

Horray! Yay for completed comps! Super happy for you. So, what's next for the brainylady?

As for the fall... at least you didn't BREAK anything -- would have been an awfully long summer with NO knitting!

Pink and Barbara said...

Oh no...what a bad luck! But congratulations on the finished paper. Hope you will back to knitting soon as you now finally have some more free time again!

Oh noes! See, I bet your body wasn't used to not having the weight of your comps on it.

YAY for finishing! YAY!!!

So now it's dissertating time, yes? Do you need to come up with a proposal first? Just wondering if the process is similar to what mine was.

Yay! Yay! Boo!

Congrats on turning in your comps, lady! I bet that feels fantastic. And while your big boo-boos don't feel so good right now, they'll heal fast. Soon you'll be knitting away with all your dedicated knitting time.

Congratulations again, lady. You've worked so hard.

You've been so productive! Congratulations on finishing those 100 pages. I'm sorry about the injuries, but maybe you need a real break from productivity. Hope you are better, and knitting, soon. Are you watching hockey?

Yikes! Sorry about those nasty-looking abrasions, Alison. Hopefully, they'll heal quickly so you can really enjoy this doctoral breather.

Well done with the comps (sorry trees). I hope your wounds heal soon. I think the fall is a sign that you need to really FOCUS on some good TV.
