In the black
I'm knitting mittens for a couple of friends, starting with a plain black pair out of Moda Dea Washable Wool. (Pattern from the trusty Complete Book of Knitting.) I was working away on the first mitten a few evenings ago when I discovered that my fingers were turning black! (I'm a little slow, so my first thought was, When did I read the newspaper? Pesky ink...)
In other winter news, Mooky hates the snow and is therefore bored out of his gourd. He continues to love his catnip taco, though.

Wow, I am in awe, I simply refuse to knit in black, too much eyestrain.
Thanks for the netnanny link!
Pooey on yarns with either unrinsed excess dye, or poorly set dye.
Poor Mooky.
I am thrilled to see you knitting with black yarn. I now know I can do it. My nephew wants black knitted items but I like my eyes.
And don't you hate it when the yarn colors yours fingers? I have had that happen to me several times. Luckily it came off my needles and my hands.
And Mimi is sorry to hear that Mooky doesn't like the snow. She likes it when there is some ice on top so she can walk on it. But she is a very light creature. Mimi also hopes that Mooky gets another catnip taco from his mommy for Christmas.
I didn't know you could get ice growing on your windows! How can Montrealians peek at their neighbours? At least you don't have to spend money on blinds ;-)
