Clessidra: Finito
Pattern: Clessidra Stockings from the spring 2007 Knitty
Yarn: SandnesGarn Sisu (colour 9544), 3 balls + a tiny bit of a 4th
Verdict: Meh. 
I don't really know what it is, but I'm not in love with these socks. I thought I'd be in love. Maybe I'm just deadly sick of looking at this colour and I just need to put them away till fall. I'm a little annoyed with myself because I knit the second sock more tightly than the first -- probably because I knit Josephine in between, and I found myself knitting that tightly. And it turns out that the second, tighter sock is the one that fits better. I haven't woven in the ends in the first sock, because there is a (tiny) chance that I'll rip it out and reknit it.
I'm also not very happy with the decreases in the stockinette side panels, and I wish I'd done them differently. According to the pattern, the decreases occur in the centre of the panel, but I'd prefer them to be at the edges since they're so visible. 
I'll definitely have to sew some elastic into the cuffs to hold up these socks, but I'm just so tired of them that I'm not going to do it now. It's funny, though -- I do think they look nice in these pictures. I guess I just have green-sock-yarn fatigue.

So, Bill and I leave tomorrow for our week-long fishing trip at Crotch Lake. Woot! Very exciting. I'm going to take my blue-herring socks with me to knit, but it's not practical to do two-colour stranded knitting in the boat (unlike doing one-colour knitting, which is entirely practical). With this in mind, when I finished the leg of the first sock I cast on for the second sock; I'm hoping to finish the second leg tonight so I'll just have the two feet to knit on my holiday. I'm halfway there:

I like the socks and I am sure that you will feel better about them come cooler weather. And Mooky is right, they match his eyes. Plus they look really nice against his fur.
those are beautiful! i bet you are just sick of looking at them - that is a lot of green!!!!! put them away until fall and I bet you will have a better outlook on them. I had to sew elastic in my knee highs as well to keep them up....
They do look beautiful in the pictures, but I can understand the fatigue. Put them away til Fall. When you pull them out again you'll be so impressed with them, and yourself.
The new socks are lovely, too.

Well, not having spent my time knitting a sea of green socks, I think they're lovely! (Mooky is totally right) -- your blue herring socks are looking wonderful. Have fun!

Your Clessidra are lovely. I'm sure you'll be really pleased with them in the fall.
Maybe you can wear the larger one on your dominate leg. It might have more muscle, causing the socks to fit better.

The new socks are in no way meh! Put them in the back of the sock drawer for a few months and you will see them in new light. Maybe fold some elastic thread inside them so you'll remember to do that later, too!

What everyone else (and Mooky) said: so not meh! If they're falling down, don't reknit them. Thread a bit of thin elastic inside the cuff ribbing so that it's hidden but does the job.

Chiming in to say the socks are absolutely gorgeous--increases and all. They look fab with the shoes, too. It definitely sounds like post-knitting depression syndrome, so it's a good thing you need to put them away for now. But clearly there are lots of good homes willing to adopt them should you feel the same in September. ;)

Steve and I saw someone the other day and both thought she looked like you. But she was wearing strappy sandals and I said, "But Ali would wear that with Maryjanes."
And those socks would have absolutely topped off the outfit.

I've found a solution to your different sized socks. Just swap feet! We all have different sized feet, you know ;-)
I understand sock fatigue -- i'm in the middle of it myself. but trust me (and everyone else) when I/we say that these socks are beautiful! I bet when the weather turns cold and that fall snap is in the air, you'll be able to love them again!
