Spring in my step

I started knitting these socks last October. I would work on them from time to time, at knitting night or in front of the TV, whenever I wanted some simple stockinette. I'd finished a sock and a half -- in February or March -- and then put them in a drawer. Last night Bill and I were watching TV (including episodes from season 1 of Arrested Development, because we are a little slow), and I decided to pick up these socks again. And I finished them! Yes, shockingly enough, stockinette socks are quicker to knit than cabled knee highs. Go figure.

There's no "pattern," but here's what I did: cast on 60 sts.; did a plain hem at the cuff; knit a st. st. heel flap with 3 garter sts. at each side; and decreased in 6 equal sections for the toe (every third round x 5, and then every round). These socks are really all about the yarn (Regia Crazy Color 5437). I love this offbeat colour combination.

It's dark and cold and windy and wet outside, so when am I going to get to wear my new sandals? Hmmm... they do look pretty fancy with my new socks:

Well, I'll wear socks and sandals for a photo, but I don't think I'll wear them out of the house. I'm old-fashioned that way.

Cute socks! The colors are great. I'm not so sure about the sock/sandal combo, though. :-)

You make socks and sandals look good enough to eat!

Wow, that sounds weird. ;-)

Love the crazy stripes! I have a matching Regia crazy sock in my lap as I type. There's just something about those wacky colour combos, no?

I was just going to comment on how awesome the colors are, and then realized that everybody beat me to it!

Whatever - you should totally wear them out with the sandals. Love it :)

They look like happy colors for Spring and great colors for fall and Halloween.

I probably would not wear them outside with the sandals either.

Great job of picking a sock formula to let the yarn speak.

Nice socks.

...and lack of cankles :)

Socks = excellent. Lack of cankles must be a great think, I wouldn't know, sad but true. I blame my genes. I'm loving those sandals, though!

Love the color of the socks!

I really like the sandals, too. But, I do think they would look better without the socks.

Love the socks! I must say that I am in agreement about not going out of the house with the sock/sandal combo. Good call. :)

They match the sandles well and the colors are kinda funky that I think the entire thing could work. Don't know if I would go in public with sock and sandles though either.
Are those Camper shoes? They are sooo cute!

I love the colors! Well done.

i hate the socks/sandals look with a passion. even moreso the "birks & wool socks." i mean, if it's cold enough for wool socks, are birks really the right shoe choice?

but the socks are quite lovely. :)
