Home

I spent three very nice days in Vancouver. (Why is it sunny and gorgeous when I visit, when it seemed to rain every day for the five years that I lived there? Curse you, fickle Vancouver!) I ate and drank (at Slickety Jim's, at Public, at Granville Island, plus takeout sushi) and I shopped (2 skeins of KPPPM and a ball of Zephyr Wool-Silk from Three Bags Full). On the flight home, I finished my first Clessidra sock. And when I got home last night I found that my backyard has exploded in flowers. I also found my little buddy Mooky in his usual corner of the back porch.

I saw friends in Vancouver whose five-year-old son was happy to see me but was also concerned. "Who's taking care of Mooky?" he asked. I promised him I'd post a photo of the Mook when I got home, so Noah, this one's for you.

I'll be in Vancouver at the end of the month. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll have some nice weather. I'll also be in Montreal in a week or so, hopefully I'll get nice weather there too!

I think Noah and his dad were behind me at Shopper's in the mall. I was standing in line and the young boy behind me was describing his "nawSEEya" in great detail. I was going to ask if they gave you a lift to Granville Island the day before, but I didn't.

Noah says, "Uhm, we should send a picture of someone in this family back. How about you or you or me? Or a picture of you, me and Daddy? OK? Daddy, lean your head on top of Mama's. Mama, let's take a picture. And let's send her some Monk-e-mail. Shall we use the phone? I'll get the phone. (sound effect as he runs for phone: "Speed limit!") Here you go mama. Ring. Ring. Let's go Mama.

2L, it could have been Noah; if he'd caught your eye, he'd have asked what you were eating under there. Or perhaps have worked the word 'butt - tocks' into the conversation.
