Mini-ripple Mooky blanket

Mooky assured me that he didn't need to have the prettiest blanket, as long as it was soft and woolly and big enough for him to sprawl out on comfortably. I was dipping into the yarn supply for my own blanket, and he encouraged me to choose yarns for his mini-blanket that I either have a lot of to use up or that I'm the least crazy about. He's selfless that way.

The big question now is, will Mooky's new mini-blanket help to diminish his obsession with my blanket-in-progress? We can only hope.

Mooky IS the world's cutest cat.

I like that Mooky's blanket looks like a funky kitty magic carpet. And nice extra added bonus: black kitty hair goes on funky magic carpet and not on light tan sofa. It's funny how cats are so drawn to knit items (and freshly laundered clothes)... my cat will do just about anything to arrange himself on a knit item above all else.

Very smart of you! And Mooky looks like he's not going to move off of the blanket anytime soon.

Mooky's fur looks lovely against the bright colours of his blankie.

Looks like Mooky is saying "oh, she's a keeper that girl 'o mine. Lookit this nice blankey she made me. Don't touch. Mine."

You've really gone over to the dark side with the crochet thing, Alison! It's fantastic, though, I love the colours, and (I've said it before, I'll say it again) I love your cat. Especially knowing how selfless he is about your yarn usage.

I think Mooky loves his ripple blankie! His expression says, "Mine!"

My cat loves to sleep on my in-progress Cashmerino sweater (particularly when I'm knitting it). Maybe I should knit him a blanket or something.

Adorable, by the way.

Mooky will want to lie on the work in progress. It is how he will share his love for you and knitting. You should knot that what is his is his and what is yours is his. That is just basic cat.

What a nice kitty mommy you are. And what a great way to use up some of those odds and ends.

Oh my, that is the best cat portrait I have seen in a while! Such a sweet blanket. My cat pulls my boyfriend's clothes out of the laundry to sleep on. Never mine, just the boyfriend's. Must be a male bonding thing.

too cute! I always try the "distract the cat with a similar item while crafting" technique, with no luck. Good luck with Mooky and your blanket-in-progress! he's so cute!!

He is a cat, he will only love what you love.

(Wish my left overs were so co-ordinated.)

Is it wrong to want to pet Mooky? Beautiful Cat! Great blanket too.

someone is on FIRE with crochet!

Mooky looks so cool! And I guess the mini blanket serves as a bit of FO gratification whilst working on the larger, mega WIP blanket... the choice of colours on the mini blanket is still pretty nice (if you ask me) as well...

Mooky: Look deep into my eyes. Listen to the sound of my purr. Crochet your kitty or dog their own afghan today… Now leave I’m trying to nap here.

Me: Very cute photo, love the kitty blanket.

No, it is in the nature of the cat to be contrary. I have tried to distract my girls with their own knitted items so they would leave MY things alone. All items have been donated to other homes because of disuse.

Mooky is very cute. And very big. Of course, only in a good way - there's A LOT of him to love.

Lucky, lucky kitty. Think of how happy we'd be if someone crocheted a blanket the size of us and said, here! Recline! Awwwww.

Mooky is the cutest little cat and the colours in his blanket really suit him.

I made my cat Morgie a blanket last year and he loves it so much he's on it every night. He doesn't go after my knitting but sits nice and close while I'm making things, just watching me. So many times I show him the pattern I'm working on and he leans over and really looks at it, giving his nod of approval. When I told him I was making the little blanket for him, he started purring so loud he was almost singing and I thought he was going to purr himself off the bed.

Cats always love what you are doing more than their own stuff. lol and warm laundry baskets full of clean cloths

mooky looks pleased (what a cute cat) but i doubt that having his very own, perfectly sized blankie will not deter him from "helping" you while you knit other blankets. sorry, good try. ;)

Love Mooky's mini blanket! Thanks for the links--I really want to make one of these ripple blankets even though I am a little bit afraid of the crochet hook. Maybe I will try it!
