Cosy

It became winter today! Loads of snow (falling horizontally), pretty cold, but you know what stayed cosy? My iPod.

I followed a tutorial by julie ree and sewed this little cosy. I made the 3"-by-4" inch size. Well, first I tried to make a smaller one to fit the nano size, but it turned out more like a chapstick cosy. So then I made this one, which is a little big, but the band of elastic holds the iPod inside. I had to stitch around the top by hand, and then I did some stitching within the diagonal lines to hold the layers together, so the lining wasn't just floating around in there. Technically, it's a bit of a mess, but it does the job (the important job of a cosy, that is) and it makes me happy every time I pull it out of my coat pocket. It's a genius little design, and Julie's how-to tutorial has clear instructions and photos.

Look at your iPod. It looks a little chilly and naked now, doesn't it?

So cute!

As the picture was loading, I thought you'd made a Moleskine cozy.

Aww, bless. I remember your very first cosy -- a knitted phone cosy to protect your arthritic Nokia from Taipei's frigid winters...

And hey, I just GOT an iPod! Now if only I could devise a cord cozy to keep the headphone wires from stiffening up in the freezing temps.

I love it!! Hmm, I have some fun fabric and my poor ipod doesn't look very warm in that neoprene...

oh eeee! how exciting. somebody used my tutorial! awwwesome. love your cosy. one of my friends asked me to make one for his nano, but I was afraid it would be too hard making one that small. But yours looks great! nice idea to stitch the layers together too.

My iPod is already warn and snuggly in a hand-knitted cozy made from leftover sock yarn, or I'd be tempted. I really like the fabric you chose for yours.

heh - a chap stick cozy might be useful too - i hate it when my lip goo freezes solid!

HI there! Chris from stumbling over chaos recommended you to me as a knitter in Montreal. I'll be in town Wed - Fri this week, and I am looking for good places to get stuff I can't buy in the U.S. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!!

It certainly does look chilly! And since I impulse bought some pretty fabric scraps, I think I'll have to pull a La Brainy and make one too!

Lovely! Thanks for the link to the tutorial. Besides keeping the ipod cozie and warm, these serve the very useful purpose of protecting from scratches. I know that my cellphone has survived many a fall thanks to my knitted cozie.

That's a really nice cozy! If I could sew, I'd totally make one!

Cute little bag (baggie, bag-ette). I own a larger versio of that bag in the same fabric -- made by you, not coincidentally.
