Back to school

I have my first class of the new term this afternoon. Sigh! Actually, a few more days off would be nice, but I do feel like I've had a break, and I'm ready to go back. After all, over the last almost-two weeks, I've managed to finish a sweater; sew a needle holder; hem two pairs of curtains; hang some pictures; sort and organize a whole lot of stuff in my office, including papers and sewing supplies; read Clara Callan; get as far as the Baroque in Sophie's World; wind six skeins of yarn (Santa brought a ball winder!); watch several movies, including the strange p.s. and Primer, and the delightful Saint Ralph; watch several enlightening episodes of Dr. Phil; do a fair amount of thrifting; eat a huge amount of sushi at one sitting; and do a whole lot of just plain hanging out. So I'm ready to get back to business.

One last thing from Christmas, though: my brother sent a photo so I could see that the Xmas socks fit and were being worn happily by him, my mom, and my dad. Yay!

Thanks for all the happy-new-year wishes! I figure if we can get through the dark slog that is January and February, we'll be fine. In fact, winter might not really ever come at all! It's sunny here today, and most of the snow has melted. Perhaps we'll just cruise right into spring... (I just knocked on/touched wood, so don't blame me if there's a blizzard next week.)

I start classes again tomorrow and I have to say that I'm not looking forward to it. I've enjoyed all of my free time these past few weeks a bit too much.

Best of luck to both of us! : )

I always hate going back after a vacation - so hard to get back in the swing of things! Sounds like you were very productive though! The sock picture is great - looks like they fit perfectly!

Classes haven't started yet, but I'm back to work, grumble grumble.

Are you enjoying Sophie's World? I've entertained the idea of reading it many times, but haven't ever gotten around to it.

Wow - and I couldn't even get myself organized enough to make one set of curtains. You were a busy lady.

Happy New Year!

I do kinda miss those extended breaks, more than a long weekend. I could definitely use more relaxing!

Great to see the socks in action!

I kinda miss those school breaks, but I definitely don't miss being in school...

Dear Alison - Happy New Year and good luck on your new semester. I love your sweater, and am inspired to use hemmed edges on my next one. Please let us know what you think of Sophie's World. I listened to it (love those audio books!) last year and had some mixed reactions.

Keep up all that productivity in 2007!

Hey, I have a copy of Clara Callan all ready to go as well... and I even thought of you and your thesis research, since it seems around the same time? is that right? I have been watching Carnivale, and thought I might like the book for the era...

I will join you in wanting to (finally) read Clara Callan, it's been on my shelf for ages.

I've seen Primer - it's not bad but if you figure it out could you please explain it to me once you've watched it? ;)

How funny! I'm also reading Sophie's World. Please let us know what you thought of it in the future.

Happy New Year!
