Circular Knitting Needle Holder
I spent snowy Boxing Day at my sewing machine, making a little something I've wanted to make for ages: the Circular Knitting Needle Holder from Stitch 'n Bitch. It was very satisfying to untangle the circs I'd been keeping in a small cardboard box, sort them by size, and slip them into the proper slots in my new holder (from 2.0mm at the top to 10.0mm at the bottom). It's currently holding 24 needles.
I didn't bother labelling each slot. I didn't want to cover up the pretty fabric, and it's not like I'm ever going to pull out a needle and starting knitting on it without double-checking its size anyway.
I used two cotton prints that I'd thrifted years ago. The instructions in the book call for Velcro to attach the straps at the top -- you have to undo them to get the thing on a hanger -- but I used buttons instead. I'm really into buttons these days, and I love picking through my little collection.
Today is brilliantly sunny, but there's still snow on the ground from the last few days of snow. This is what I wanted on the 25th! Oh well. Better late than never.

it looks great!!
i really need to make myself one of those too!
It's gorgeous! But I look at it hanging from the doorhandle and all I can think is "cat toy!"
Great fabric/button combo! Retro but fresh colours.
Nice work. I've been really into vintage buttons lately too - one of the few indulgences I can afford these days :)
The FO is great, but the photography is fabulous. Did you get a new camera? Maybe I missed that post.
I'm glad you're enjoying your vacation. :-)
very cute! i love the combination of fabrics :)
Beautiful - and great fabric choice.
It's so cool, I need to bust out the sewing machine!
Sigh...no sign of snow at all over here. I love the fabrics you used for the needle holder.
Your circular needle holder turned out beautiful. I'm with you on using vintage buttons over velcro. Enjoy the snow and sun!
Lovely. I have been trying to think of something to make for a friend of mine and that is perfect!
OOOH. I need one of those sooooo badly. Any interest in getting hired to make one with some minor adjustments for my big needle collection and super-anal personality?
How cute!
Very cute. I'm also making a circ holder, one with folded ribbons running down a strap of fabric. Love the hangar strap on yours and may put some on mine. With buttons, natch.
that came out great! I love the bold fabric, and I think the buttons are so much better than velcro! organized for the new year!
This is a really nice bag. I think I need to make one. My circulars are in plastic backs, not orderly or tidy at all. Clever! Thank you for posting.

That's a great needle holder - love that material & the buttons. Your doorknob is pretty nifty, too :). Great job on the socks . . I'm still working on my brother's pair here. Your tree is so pretty! I miss the fragrance of real pine boughs.
Happy New Year!
Nice.
I really like your choice of fabrics: lovely patterns & colours :-)
Funny to see your version, as I've just made two myself, for christmas presents - and will certainly make one for my own needles.
Happy new year
Jeanette
Beautiful! I've been wanting to make one of those for a while too. Thanks for the extra inspiration!
