Ten weeks

Max is ten weeks old tomorrow. Things are definitely good now; I'd say the first five or six weeks were very difficult for me. At around eight weeks, something seemed to click on in him, with lots of smiles, lots of movement, super-alertness, and a good long sleep at night. Earlier this month we flew out to B.C. so Max could meet his grandparents and other relatives, and he was a champ with the travel as well as with all the new faces, voices, etc. Now I'm looking forward to him holding up his own head and feeding less frequently during the day. Also wondering if those blue eyes are going to change. They're so blue I find it hard to believe they'll turn brown (like mine). Maybe green (like his dad's)?

Awww, what a cutie. Good work! I had the same thought about how my kids' eyes looked too blue to turn brown or green, and yet there are almost no blue eyes in our families. A year and a half later, they're still blue!

Yay! So glad to hear you're both doing well. :)

My kids' eyes are all blue - Dad and I both have green eyes, so we figure it's a double-recessive gene thing, but still find it amazing that we ended up with two blue-eyed kids (ages 3 and 5). I remember wondering, when each was tiny, if they'd change.

Good for you! The beginning is SO HARD. It just gets better from here on out! And Baby J's eye color is still changing at 1 year old. I don't know if they'll be green, blue or turn light brown. It's fun to watch!

Max is adorable. About the blue eyes. They say that the colour of ones eyes will change before the end of the first year if ever. BUT, I have proof, double proof, that this is not always true. Both my young ladies, now aged 9 and 10 had deep blue eyes until about 18 months (mine are brown, daddies grey) after which they GRADUALLY changed. Not until they were approx 5 I could really call their eyes brown. Not that it really matters, because he will be handsome anyway :)

Alison, Max is such a cutie! Can't wait to see all the knitted things he'll be wearing.

he's beautiful! The beginning is hard, as much as we read and study and get told things, a mom and babe need to get into their special groove. Hope things continue to ease for you.

It was so nice to see you & Max yesterday. He's such a handsome little guy. Quentin is glad to have him as a friend. We hope to see you again sometime soon!

Don't you just love it now that he's responsive and reacts to your voice. It's the best feeling in the world.

Glad you're past the 'hard part'. Those first two months are both magical and frighteningly difficult. Life changes SO much and you just can't anticipate what it's like to be 'on' 24/7, until you are there, and then you wonder how you'll ever survive it. :) Max is a treasure. He looks super healthy and intelligent! :)

He looks great! I can't believe, in retrospect, how hard the beginning is, but you get through it. Betcha things are even more fun now than when you posted a few weeks ago, and it just keeps getting better.
