Oh, Noro

I recently bought a ball of Noro Kureyon Sock yarn, and I want to use every single inch of it. There are two steps to achieving this goal: (1) divide the 100-g ball into two 50-g balls and (2) knit socks from the toe up.

Step 1 is done. Obviously no attempt will be made at making matching socks. For me, the whole point of Noro Kureyon is the colour changes, so I will be knitting plain stockinette socks and just watching the magic happen. This is colourway S236: medium green, teal, black, grey, pink, gold, lime. It sounds like a crazy combination, but it will work somehow, because it's Noro.

I'm not going to cast on for these socks until I finish something else, though. I have five WIPs on the go right now, which is a lot for me: two cardigans, two pairs of socks, and a shawl. My next FO will likely be either a Cleite shawl (1 repeat left) or an Amelia cardigan (1 sleeve + yoke left).

Mooky says have a good weekend...

... and can I come in now, please?

I'm doing the exact same thing with my Noro sock yarn - which is a big deal because I hate toe-up heels! I also limit my wip to 5, because that's how many fit across the top of my screen in Ravelry. Somehow, if I can keep it to one row I feel the most accomplished. This means, however, I'm going to have to hibernate one of my shawls. And I'm OK with that.

I was thinking Mooks looked a little unhappy there...

I'll probably do the same thing with my Noro sock yarn, too.

Beautiful yarn! I can't wait to see the socks, and the upcoming FO. I'm horribly about WIPs; I really have no idea how many I have. I am a sucker for toe-up socks, though I finally just designed my own pattern. Maybe I'll try it with some of this yarn next :)

Oh, Mooky, out in the cold...

I'm sure the socks will knit up beautifully! I love seeing how Noro knits up, especially in stockinette or even in chevron or feather and fan patterns.

You're a woman after my heart. I did the exact same thing with your cabled sock pattern and a ball of Regia. Divide and conquer!

I LOVE Mooky's eyes in that photo. He looks like he saying, "How DARE you take photos of yarn while my wee paws are getting cold out here! Let me in, #$(%* it, woman!"

"you stand inside in the warm house taking pictures of me outside in the snow? you will pay, human! i know where you sleep at night."

well, that's what i'm imagining mooky to be thinking.

Perfect timing; I just brought home my 1st ball of Kureyon sock! I couldn't agree with you more about not trying to make them match. Just let the yarn do its thing, man.

Mooky looks scared!

I did the same thing with the Noro. But The cuffs are getting really long. And I have size 11 feet... The yarn isn't very soft to knit with but the colors are GORGEOUS!

What beautiful colors! Hope you can cast on for those and show pictures soon. And that picture of Mooky is hilarious - he looks kinds startled to see you on the other side of the window. Or maybe petrified is a better word.

Are cats allowed to go into the snow? I have a new cat. He's 6 years old, 7.5 kg, a Russian Blue, and his name is Tom. We call him Tom-puss for short...
