Lady quilts the blues
After getting some much-needed advice from Carolyn, I got a walking foot for my machine, and in no time I'd quilted this bad boy. Now comes my favourite part: attaching the binding by hand. (I find that dollar-store bobby pins do an excellent job of keeping a quilt's binding in place for hand sewing.)

yay! I LOVE hand sewing on the binding, it's my fave part - means the quilt is nearly done! The bobby pin idea is genius. i have been using those hair clips that bend and lock in the middle, but the bobby pins would hold as well and you can get closer to them with your stitching before having to move them. Will try on my next quilt.

I agree, the bobbi pin trick is fantastic. I'm always sick of pinning when I get to the binding anyway! The quilt itself looks great. Love those anchors!
What a clever idea!!
A walking foot is the only way to go for machine quilting. And I love the hand sewing of the folded over binding as well. I use metal hair clips to hold my binding down. They don't shift and stay put until you move them.
I love the bobby pin idea. I have a tendency to buy things like bobby pins even though my hair is often too short to use them. It will be good to find a use for them.
