Hey, how about these?
Yeah, I'm just kidding. (But I think it's kind of great that if I really did want to look like Wheels from Degrassi, it's an option that's still available in the twenty-first century.)
OK, so the quest for my first pair of glasses continues. And I'm so glad I asked for your advice, because I am now armed with all kinds of information that I never would have thought of. I went to three new places today and tried on, tried on, tried on. I didn't find anything that had all the necessary ingredients -- light, comfortable, right for my face -- but I don't mind spending another day or two looking. As many of you have pointed out, I should love my glasses, and I'll be wearing them (right on my face!) for two or three years. (Plus I'm still holding out hope that I can find prices that allow me to buy two pairs.)
And for the record, choice C is still in the running due to a landslide victory in the polls! Thank you for voting. Bill got really into checking the results. :)

I loved Degrassi! I always wanted to be Lucy :)
Glad you're attacking this with your usual zeal and good spirit. You're doing the right thing. You'll find the frames that fit the bill (no pun intended!).
ha! wheels was one of my favorite characters...except for joey of course. :D
Hey, aren't those "Wierd Al" Yankovic's glasses? Ha ha ha!
And I had a thing for Snake...the gangly, red hair thing was totally my type back then.
Actually, if you're looking for new ideas, go to the most expensive designer frame place in town. Ask the salesperson for a recommendation. A chance suggestion while I was browsing once made me rethink almost everything about my face.
HAHAHAHA! Before I even read your words, I thought, "OMG, she looks like Wheels!". I love 'classic' Degrassi!!
My husband has prescription safety glasses like that--he chose the ugliest ones he could find.
If you can afford it I find titanium frames the lightest around. I prefer plastic ones (chunky too) but once I start wearing these I couldn't go back. They're so light. But they ain't cheap--I need to wear them for a few more years before I can justify another pair.
Looking like Wheels would require a mullet so I'd take a pass on those glasses. ;-)
For a second, I thought your CBC button was a "screen bug" like they have on TV.
Oh, Degrassi!! I loved that! I have to (with shame) admit that, in a fit of insomnia, I watched a teeny part of Mallrats late the other night-- Shannon Doherty had on a jacket that read "DEGRASSI" on the back. That threw me!
And I think the "Wheels Look" is great on you! :)
I am glad to see you having fun with it! Honestly, there is room for more than one pair. I actually have 3 pairs that I cycle through - 2 plastic frames, and one wire frame. I match them to my outfit and my mood that day :)
hello!
my friend marlo told me to swing by your blog when i told her that i all i do these days is knit. you make so many pretty things!
if you are ever looking for another place and time to knit, im part of a thursday night stitch and bitch, and we are always looking for new and talented folks to come knit with us.
good luck with the glasses hunt!
One thing you might want to think about in your glasses search (and don't know I didn't think of this earlier) is how you normally sit, especially when you read.
If you lean on a hand or arm, you might want to think about sitting there the way you would wear your glasses. I've had some glasses that manage to be pretty uncomfortable when I read.
OH Ali, This is what I miss when I'm not on my computer! My take on glasses is to agree with folks who recommended plastic and anti-reflective lenses.
I totally agree that you look cutest in photo 'c', but am not convinced that's because of the glasses, since your hair and skin also look 100% better in 'c'. I think the lighting in 'a' and 'b' makes you not look like you (whose nose is in those photos?! not yours).
If you were near Granville Optical, I'd recommend them, but ...
I hope you find the perfect, inexpensive glasses.
I'm really far behind in my blog reading, but do you know what brand the 'c' choice of frames is from the previous post? Talk about a long sentence, sorry!
