Last night, sushi restaurant, young couple at the next table...

She: Hey, X is back in town.
He: I know.
She: Yeah, I talked to him yesterday.
He: On MSN?
She: Yeah.
He: I haven't been on MSN for a few days.
She: Oh. So how did you know X was back?
He: Facebook.

God, this makes me feel old. And a little bit glad to be old, if I'm really honest.

That is funny. What's this world coming to?

With all the cell phones everywhere, why don't people just call each other anymore?

Apparently Facebook is taking over the world. As well as how we keep in touch. Weird seeing as how it started as a school project.

i just left facebook (again) because i am weirded out about what i know about others... i actually witnessed a couple breaking up on facebook. and by "witness" i mean i saw the little broken heart. that's how she found out too.

That's really weird (the broken heart thing). I got an invite to Facebook a few months ago and I have to say, out of all the online social networking interfaces, I like this one best--other than Ravelry, of course.

LOL. I'm amazed at how everyone is on facebook. I guess it's no different than blogs and bloglines but it seems like such a time suck!

And WE hear about this conversation here in blogland. I love it.

I had a similar experience at lunch today. I heard a group of people at a table talking about someone they knew in school and one asked how they knew and evidently the answer was Facebook.. I was extremely opposed to it at first, but then I starting finding some good friends that I'd lost touch with, I try not to let it go to my head cause it can be such crap if you let it.

I hadn't heard of Facebook until a month ago when I got my first 'invitation.' But now that I've had 10+ invitations, including from two 65+ aunties, I know Facebook is a phenom.
